Beginning of an end

Here is a poem I penned long time back. I wrote it in ten minutes flat, in the year 1999.

A beginning of an old story,
yet to be told
A death of a dream
that was waiting to unfold

A tear on a child's smile
A fear on courage's shoulder
A thought away from anguish, pain
A wish not to be wished again

A free bird in the caged skies
Or skies caging a free bird
A vision restricted by light
A desire encountered by fright

A night beginning with a day
Or a day beginning with night
A song that lost its voice
A choice of having no choice

A hope blinded by clouds
Clouds of despair and hopelessness
Clouds all over, all around
Dark clouds profound

A life cherished and loved
A life worthless and abandoned
A moment of eternal happiness
A lifetime of painful moments

A loss and a gain
A given and a taken
Nothing moves, everything silent
May be this all never meant…
